In ‘inventory’ we have entered plywood details that we use in construction of our cases, for example 1 sheet 11mm cost = £ 5.82 with a mark-up of 25% = £ 6.78 per sheet
In ‘preferences’ we are showing a material mark-up percentage when used in a design as 20%
Our question is – when we are using materials in a design would the £ 6.78 per increased by a further 20% ?

In Inventory for every materials that is using the default mark up values (the field appears grayed) , these will reflect the values in Preferences > Pricing and will change as you change them in Preferences. If you manually over-rode the default mark up for the item in Inventory then you will have to manually change those or delete the values you entered in that field so the values in Preferences > Pricing will be in effect.
In Designs you can do a BULK refresh. Bulk refresh will not change values in fields that you manually entered a %. (Feature added in Build 4138 and later.)
You can update prices, weights and times on all or a filtered list of designs using Bulk Refresh:
In the Design module: Select SHOW ALL at the bottom of the window to ensure that you are not filtering any designs
Hover over the 'Lock' icon in a design: select ALT + CLICK to bring up the Bulk Refresh window
The bulk refresh provides many option to be selective as to what designs you want to update.
Note: When a design is added to a Project, the prices, weights and times are automatically updated to your current prices, weights and times even if you haven't refreshed the design itself
No - the markup listed in the item in Inventory over-rides the material category that's listed in Preferences. They do not build on each other.
Costs are based on the actual amount required plus the waste factor for that item, then the markup is applied. You can see the results inDesign>Details>Materials tab to confirm the pricing for each material is accurate. This helps determine if any materials are messing up your totals so you can correct it. We're working on simplifying the item screens in Inventory but the markup for the item is shown at the bottom of the screen "Pricing When Applied to Designs" values.
Keep in mind that there are different methods to cutting materials which can generate different waste results. The waste factor for each item is an average provided from the many companies who participated in beta but it should not be considered to be accurate for your shop.

So, does that mean when I change the mark up percent that I used when setting up Crate Pro years ago, in Preferences/Pricing, to a new value, that I now have to go back through every inventory item and change the percent increase in each one? from the old to the new?
