-You can over ride any calculation that CP6 makes either as a company default in the Preference module or in the design itself which will only affect the design. In Preferences you'll want to try to set your company policy defaults to get CP6 to calculate the way you want it to for the majority of the time.
In Preferences>Settings there are two key settings for splicing. These are your normal company defaults that can still be over-ridden depending on the circumstance but you want to allow CP6 to use your defaults to calculate your splices, '
Minimum Dimension: Most companies have a policy as to how narrow they'll allow a spliced piece of ply to be. Specify in mm the narrowest you want CP6 to calculate a splice when one is required. You may also set this at '0' OK to Rotate Panelboard : There are many standards that don't allow for the rotation of a panel because the school of thought is that mixing the direction of the plywood grain weakens the overall strength of the crate. So when you don't check this option, CP6 will look at the size of the ply you're using, as specified for that material in Inventory, and assume that is the absolute size available and based on your minimum dimension setting and the required size of the panel, indicate the dimensions and quantity of pieces required. If you check the box 'OK to Rotate Panelboard' then CP6 will look at the size of the material you're using, the minimum dimension setting and the required size of the panel and if it determines that by rotating the plywood that you can reduce the number of saw stops, it will do so.
You can change your company Preferences settings in the design by clicking on the Rules tab, changing the desired setting and on each panel that you want the change applies, select APPLY.
You can also click on any of the Piece fields and delete the materials and enter your own dimensions for each piece. Based on the panel size required, CP6 will give you light indicators on the tab if the pieces entered equal the total panel size required.
