I would like to know where the values for the weight and board footage are found. The weights don't match when I look at the total BF being used. My costs aren't correct and I can't figure out where to look.

To determine what material is calculating improperly, in the Design go to the Details>Materials tab. Is there any value that does not appear correct. Values are rounded in many cases. You can click in weight field to see additional decimal places. Values are shown in inches & feet or mm & meters depending on your installation. The explanations are for lumber material because of the need to convert the values shown if you feel they're incorrect. If any other material is incorrect, please create a ticket or email to [email protected]
Values shown in Linear Feet or Linear Meter
Actual is the amount needed to build your crates. The Waste % is found in the material record for each material. You can change it here for the one design or change in Inventory for all future designs. Waste is usually determined over a period of time due to limited value of return gained by micromanaging it for every design. Adjusting your waste for each order is generally not done unless you're very small volume.
To get the Plus Waste: ACTUAL multiplied by WASTE %. Add that sum to the ACTUAL and you'll get the PLUS WASTE value. Your costs are based on this value.
The BF total is based on the Actual Plus Waste: Note- the order of operation is important or you'll get incorrect results.
WEIGHT CALCULATION: The weight is based on the ACTUAL value.
In Inventory the default tracking level for lumber is by board foot and/or cubic meter. if you're entering your material weight by board foot or cubic meter you'll need to convert the ACTUAL linear footage/meter value shown in the Design>Details>Materials tab to board foot / cubic meter using a free online converter or by using the formula show above for Imperial measurements.
Once you have the unit of measure in board foot or cubic meter you can multiply by the weight you entered in Inventory.
If you weigh your crate and values being calculated come out too high or too low then the weight of your material in Inventory is wrong. Depending on type of wood and moisture content, there can be a significant difference between the scale weight and the calculated weight.
